JLWA worked with the Native American Center for Excellence (NACE) to provide
technical assistance support for rural prevention programs serving American Indians.
NACE is a national resource center for up-to-date information on American Indian and
Alaska Native substance abuse prevention programs, practices, and policies. NACE is
an initiative of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

"Three (3) principles direct the approach, attitude, and activities of NACE. They are to:
1) bring cultural attention, sensitivity, and regard to their interactions and relationships
with American Indian and Alaska Native communities, service providers, researchers,
and Native people as they are invited to participate in technical assistance, trainings,
and gatherings; 2) provide training, technical assistance, meetings, and products that
are accurate in cultural, scientific, technical, and statistical terms; and 3) develop and
producing trainings, technical assistance, products, and services that are high quality
and user-friendly in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner."
