JLWA helped the GPTCHB win a $13.1 million Access to Recovery (ATR) grant award
from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to provide
substance abuse treatment and recovery support services to American Indians
in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. The project was coordinated with
217 community-based organizations, including 25 Indian health care programs; the
Indian Health Service; the Department of Corrections in all four (4) states; and the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs.
This is the second ATR grant planned and developed by JLWA that was funded. The
first project was the $17.1 million California American Indian Recovery program by the
California Rural Indian Health Board. The program is now in their seventh year of
operations (third round of funding).
